Contra Costa Country Club of Pleasant Hill, CA is approximately 20 miles northeast of San Francisco. The club is excited to celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2025. With its eyes focused on the future, renovations to the practice facility and maintenance facilities will start in the New Year! Our equipment fleet is comprised of Toro equipment. The overwhelming majority of the fleet is on 4-year lease programs ensuring access to the best quality equipment on a reoccurring basis. Additionally in 2025, the club will be purchasing state of the art bedknife and reel grinders to further enhance maintenance practices.
General Purpose:
Performs mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel power equipment. Assists in always keeping equipment in efficient and operable conditions. Organizes and maintains a clean and safe maintenance area; performs related tasks as required. This position will also involve some operation of golf course maintenance equipment in setting up and preparing portions of the course for play each morning.
Essential Duties:
Participates in preventative maintenance programs on all equipment at the direction of Head Mechanic. Orders parts/supplies when directed to for equipment or services. Maintains records consistent with club standards regarding preventative maintenance, repairs made, and parts orders. Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment. Performs mower grinding/sharpening or reels and bedknives at the direction of Head Mechanic and Golf Course Superintendent. Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as required.Education or Experience:
Certification from college or technical school preferred but not required. 3-6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination and experience. Must have valid driver’s license. Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems. Experience with mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening, and adjusting preferred but not required.Physical Demands:
Frequently stands and walks; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances. Regularly talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); with toxic or caustic materials; in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); may experience vibration. Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens. Frequently works in areas near moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud.

Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
