The **Assistant Nurse Manager** is responsible for ensuring quality care by managing and leading the staff in a manner consistent with the plan of care, the mission and scope of service of Carrier, program policy and procedure and the regulatory standards of accreditation policies on their respective shifts. Assumes administrative and clinical responsibility in the absence of the Vice President of Patient Care Services and other administrative personnel. **Responsibilities** + Monitors and assures patient care is provided within a safe and healing environment in the least restrictive manner + Promotes a culture and environment of safety, respect, and trust for patients, families and staff. + Acts as liaison with Access staff on appropriateness of admissions and EMTALA compliance. + Directs and/ or coordinates interventions necessitated by emergency situations, responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of nursing staff during the respective shift. + Obtains emergency medications and supplies from Pharmacy night cabinet in the absence of pharmacist + Assists with chart reviews and audits to ensure compliance with regulation and standards per policies and procedures. + Supervises and maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic work/patient care environment. + Monitors, investigates and provides feedback on all environmental and safety hazards per policies and procedures with relevant personnel. + Acts as an ombudsman for the hospital when responding to inquiries and crisis calls from patients, families, staff and community. Initiates appropriate action and provides documentation for follow-up.
