Caregivers in our 3 Seidman Oncology/Palliative Unit provide medical, neurological and telemetry care for inpatient and observation patients who have cancer, are receiving cancer treatments, are receiving other related treatments and have other related diagnoses. **A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers. + Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans. + Evaluate and document patient progress. + Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit. + Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. + Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization. + Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit. + Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage. + Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives. + Assist in orienting new caregivers. + Participate in continuing education and in-service educational programs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. + Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). + Two years of recent clinical nursing experience. + Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills.
