This includes a variety of surgical procedures. You can be a part of this highly skilled team, working within a culture that is collaborative. Here, you will work in tandem with physicians and other health care practitioners to provide superior, nursing care. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Acts as a shift supervisor, responsible for clinical functions, staffing assignments, and care coordination + Acts as the main onsite leadership when the Nurse Manager is not present + Collaborates with Nurse Manager on day-to-day operations + Performs patient intakes, evaluations, and assessments + Oversees patient placement and throughput + Plans, implements, and evaluates unit orientation for clinical staff (RNs and CNAs) + Plans and implements educational offerings to enhance the delivery of care + Fosters clinical excellence and incorporates clinical standards into daily practice + Participates in organizational committees, taskforces, and work groups + Provides performance feedback to the Nurse Manager during annual performance evaluations + Provides “just in time” feedback to staff regarding clinical performance, interpersonal team interactions, and patient communications + Responds appropriately to emergency situations and drills + Promotes practices and decisions that reduce human error and promote patient safety **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** + 2 years of current or recent Surgical nursing experience + Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State **ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-NORTHWEST** UW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
