Assistant Operations Manager
Overview Salary: $68,500-$85,000 Annually Summary: The Assistant Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations during his shift. These responsibilities include maintaining and improving efficiency in loading and unloading, maintaining strict adherence to safety guidelines, communicating with the Operations Manager, and supervising the workforce. The Assistant Operations Manager is also responsible for ensuring that Ozinga and 3rd party customers are loaded with competence and ensuring an efficient process. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Supervise unloading of barges and loading of rail cars • Maintain strict safety logs • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations • Maintain open line of communication with Operations Manager at all times • Maintain and improve efficiency of processes regarding loading and unloading Global Responsibilities: • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs Qualifications: Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent required Experience: • 2 years of management experience required Skills/Abilities: • Excellent communication skills, problem solving ability, and basic computer skills • Engineering/mechanical skills preferred • Organizational approach • Ability to multitask and to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances Working Conditions: • Operate within a fast-paced environment • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions • Noise level is usually moderate but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants, and laboratories • Personal protection equipment (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fall protection) required • Travel required to other facilities, customer locations, and storage facilities required Physical Requirements: • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms • Walking, climbing, and standing on uneven, or muddy job sites in both daylight and after dark • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl • Frequent use of stairs, use of fall protection, operation of equipment (skid steer, manlift, loader, company truck), connecting hoses, sampling trucks & vessels, etc. • Lifting and carrying tools and/or product, connecting hoses often on difficult terrain • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus • Must be able to frequently bend in order to obtain samples from stockpiles, or vessels • Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment • Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time • Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary • Must be able to maneuver in and around plants, yards, and jobsites as necessary • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds several times a day Benefits Information: At Ozinga, we care about the well-being of our team members both in and out of the workplace.
