The Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech seeks applications for one tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2024. This position is for the main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, with opportunities for teaching and program development in the Greater Washington D. C. area as well. This search is specifically at the level of assistant or associate professor, so we are interested in recent graduates as well as those who are tenured associate professors at strong research institutions. This is a macro (entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, international business) position, and we are particularly interested in candidates with strong research and teaching interests in technology entrepreneurship, corporate innovation, technology commercialization, and related areas. The Department of Management consists of 30 full-time faculty with an impressive range of leading-edge research and teaching expertise in various areas of management. Our current faculty have published very recently in top journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Academy of Management Annals.
Recent accolades received by the Department of Management and its research and instructional programs in entrepreneurship include the # 25 ranking in the Princeton Review's list of top undergraduate programs in entrepreneurship for two years in a row, the Model Program Award for entrepreneurship education from the USASBE in 2022, and the top research award (tied with Texas A&M) from the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers for exceptional contributions in entrepreneurship research. Our current doctoral students have papers accepted in elite journals before they go to the job market. Our recognition and reputation have risen and continue to rise in many ways.

The Pamplin College of Business offers several majors through the various departments. The Department of Management’s academic programs include four undergraduate majors, two interdisciplinary minors, and a full-time Ph.D. program. The department is a strong contributor to five master’s programs, the top-ranked Master of Information Technology Program, and the Executive Ph.D. program. Most of the master's programs and the Executive Ph.D. program will soon move to the 11-story, 300,000 square-foot building located in Arlington, Virginia. Virginia Tech recently opened the 1st building of the Global Business Analytics Complex on its main campus in Blacksburg, and the plan is underway for the 2nd building specifically for the Pamplin College of Business
