Assistant or Associate Professor of Photography
The Watkins College of Art at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning August 1st, 2025.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of photography and its wide-ranging applications. First and foremost, we seek a candidate who understands photography as a medium of artistic expression with various technical and conceptual approaches. Our curriculum covers a wide range of approaches and seeks to foster a wide variety of career paths in our graduates. To that end, we seek applicants with a broad range of photographic skills and interests. Applicants should be capable of effectively teaching courses from foundational first-year studios to senior seminars, with the option to expand into graduate-level teaching if desired. Candidates should also have experience with or the ability to teach time-based media.Successful candidates will work collaboratively with the photography faculty, the department, and the college to develop/maintain a dynamic learning environment. Additional duties include academic advising, student mentoring, and maintaining scholarly/creative activities, as well as college and university service. MFA is required, and two to three years of teaching experience beyond a graduate school Teaching Assistantship is preferred.

Applied lighting / studio lighting
Photographic theory
Thesis exhibition courses
Professional practices of photography
Photographic bookmaking
Video or time-based media
Sound and performance
