As the Assistant Plant Carpenter at one of our Alaska seafood processing facilities, is responsible for maintaining and repairing the facility's infrastructure, including wooden structures, equipment, and machinery. This involves tasks such as building and repairing workbenches, pallets, and crates, as well as maintaining conveyor belts, doors, and other wooden components. They also assist in construction projects, install safety barriers, and perform general carpentry duties to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
Assisting in installing, maintaining and repairing facility wall and ceiling system. Set up and operating wood working tools and all common had tools to cut, form, and finish material for the construction or demolition of an assigned project. Assisting in installing wood or metal parts and repairing or refinishing walls or structures. Assisting in installing glass or replacing broken glass, dismantling roofing or window siding. Prepares scaffolding as needed to complete projects safely. Assists to ensure proper completion of carpenter’s work like, painting, roofing and locksmith. Touch-up of incidental painting after structure repairs. Able to implement safe work procedures. Other duties are to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.Competencies

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities, and the ability to travel, including at times to remote locations. Physical Demands
Position requires strong hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the stamina to work for extended periods.
