Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit THE DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY: The Kinesiology Department (https://kin.uncg.edu/) has 26 full‐time faculty in the sub-disciplines of Applied Neuromechanics, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Pedagogical Kinesiology, and Sports Medicine. The department is one of ten departments or programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences (https://hhs.uncg.edu/) at UNCG. Kinesiology faculty have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service, and the doctoral program was highly ranked in the most recent (2019, 2023) National Academy of Kinesiology national rankings of doctoral programs in kinesiology. The department is located in a modern facility with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and access to extensive classroom space. Kinesiology is the 5th largest department at UNCG serving approximately 700 undergraduates and 175 graduate students. The department offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T., and Ph.D. degrees on campus, as well as an online Ed.D. and M.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Position Summary Provides student-centered teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Kinesiology with a 4:4 load, including courses in physiology, exercise physiology, and exercise instruction. The successful candidate would also be able to teach graduate level courses in exercise physiology and provide training and oversight of graduate teaching assistants for physiology, exercise physiology and/or anatomy labs. They will also contribute to advising undergraduate students. Minimum Qualifications The department is interested in hiring a faculty member who has strong teaching skills at the undergraduate and graduate level across exercise physiology. A minimum of an earned doctorate in kinesiology or a related field is required within the first year of employment. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with one or more of the following additional certifications are strongly encouraged to apply: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM) or Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM). A person who could also teach graduate level muscle physiology and/or undergraduate anatomy is preferred. Additionally, a minimum of two years of teaching experience in higher education is desired.
