Assistant Professor, Pediatric Gastroenterology
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time pediatric gastroenterologist at the rank of Assistant Professor on the Scholarship or Clinical Excellence tenure-tracks with a focus on intestinal rehabilitation and nutrition. Providing comprehensive medical care to ill children with a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatology diagnoses. Duties and Responsibilities The Gastroenterologist shall provide physician medical management to patients in the Johns Hopkins Hospital with an emphasis on the management of patients with gastrointestinal diseases with a specific focus on nutrition and intestinal rehabilitation. The Gastroenterologist will obtain patients histories, examine patients, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, determine diagnoses and implement appropriate treatment, monitor patients' condition and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary. Administrative responsibilities including but not limited to medical record keeping and billing as required by the Johns Hopkins Hospital in accordance with its medical bylaws and policies and procedures of the Johns Hopkins Clinical Practice Association. The Gastroenterologist will work with the Gastroenterology team and staff of other services, composed of other physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and therapists to coordinate and optimize care and maximize efficiency. The gastroenterologist demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families and other members of health care teams. The Gastroenterologist will follow performance standards and hospital policies for hospital providers. The Gastroenterologist will be required to participate in all divisional teaching programs and provide a balanced and integrated educational program in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition of medical fellows, residents and students who rotate through the program. The Gastroenterologist will attend and participate in Division and/or Department teaching and continuing educational conferences, which requires verbal interaction with colleagues and walking to meeting locations on the main campus, as well as participate in quality improvement. The Gastroenterologist will independently assume responsibility for consultations, new patient evaluations, initiation of appropriate referrals, performance of endoscopic procedures and follow-up/ surveillance. The Assistant Professor candidate should be a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric gastroenterologist, licensed to practice medicine and prescribe all pharmaceuticals in the State of Maryland. Furthermore, the candidate must demonstrate skill in pediatric endoscopic procedures related to the specialty of Gastroenterology. The position will include teaching of advanced practice practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical and graduate students in the clinical and laboratory setting. Salary: 200,000-$225,000 Additional Information Salary Range The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
