Position Summary: Arkansas State University (A-State) is recruiting applicants for the position of Coordinator of Music Education and Assistant Director of Bands, beginning August 16, 2025. In support of the mission of the Department of Music, A-State is seeking applicants to join a department of music recognized throughout the region for artistic excellence and student success. The successful candidate will be a collaborative music educator, coordinate the instrumental music education program, and assist the A-State Band program. The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor on Tenure Track. Duties & Responsibilities: The Coordinator of Music Education and Assistant Director of Bands will advocate for A-State Music Education students through collaboration with the Director of Choral Music Education to enhance and develop the Music Education area. This role includes working closely with faculty across the Department of Music to align curricular goals and ensure a cohesive educational experience for all Music Education students. The position involves fostering strong community relations with state and regional educators to promote A-State's music programs. Additionally, the Coordinator will pursue innovative research within their area of interest to contribute to the advancement of music education at A-State and on the regional, national, and international levels. The Coordinator of Music Education responsibilities include: + Developing and delivering comprehensive coursework for undergraduate and graduate students in instrumental music education + Actively recruiting prospective students, creating a supportive environment for current students, and advocating for the Music Education program within the department, university, and broader community + Providing academic advising for students pursuing careers in instrumental music education + Overseeing the student internship experience, including partnering with local schools and guiding students through the licensure process + Directing an ensemble(s) within the Band program, and providing assistance with other program responsibilities as needed + Maintaining strong communication with the College of Education & Behavioral Sciences and the Office of Professional Education Programs to ensure program accreditation, licensure standards, and alignment with state and national education policies Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization, including special abilities.
