Position Summary: Arkansas State University's Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in African American history. The Department also welcomes applicants with sub-fields of environmental, public, or social history. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in African American and U. S. History and participate in the History Department’s General Education curriculum. The successful applicant will also mentor students in the history major and African American Studies minor, participate in recruitment and retention initiatives, and perform other service for the department, the university, and the community at-large. They will also demonstrate an active research agenda that is compatible with an R2 university. The Department of History is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive faculty and environment. Located in Jonesboro, AR, it is the flagship campus of the Arkansas State University System. It is a little over an hour away from Memphis and two hours away from Little Rock. Duties & Responsibilities: + Teaching load varies from 9-12 hours per semester + Mentor History majors and African American Studies minors + Participate in the department’s General Education Curriculum + Participate in departmental recruitment and other events as needed + Other service for the department, the university, and the community at-large Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization, including special abilities.
