The faculty of the Department of Environmental Science and Technology ENST at the University of Maryland College Park httpsenstumdedu invites applications for an Assistant Professor to contribute to its Ecosystem Health and Natural Resources Management specialization The position will be a tenure track 9 month appointment with 60 teaching and 40 research split Specifically ENST is seeking a colleague answering relevant questions about organisms in natural systems especially in landscapes that involve interactions with human systems using expertise in statistical simulation and analytical modeling of ecological systems at varying spatial scales The applicants research should relate to the health and management of ecosystems As such outcomes of the candidates research should lead to possible improvements in the health of natural resources and ecosystem functioning mitigations of potential climate change impacts or improvements in human health and wellbeing Applicant responsibilities would include teaching courses in quantitative approaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Ecosystem Heath and Natural Resources Management curriculums as well as herpetology ornithology forest health dynamics or another course specific to their area of expertise The successful candidate must maintain a nationally recognized externally funded research program leading to quality publications in refereed journals teach courses in the departmental curriculum consistent with their background work on programcurriculum development and participate in professional and university outreach and service activities
