Full-time tenure-track position in Political Science at the rank of Assistant Professor

Subfield: Political Behavior with a focus on Canadian Politics and/or Canadian/US Politics

The Department of Political Science at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Political Behavior with a focus on Canadian Politics and/or Canadian/US Politics. Applicants may focus on Canadian Political Behaviour research only; or they may specialize in Political Behaviour research comparatively between Canada and the United States. The Department expects the candidate to contribute to teaching in the newly established Methods subfield at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The appointment is expected to be at the rank of Assistant Professor, but appointments at a higher rank are possible under exceptional circumstances. The position start date is August 1, 2025 (negotiable up to January 1, 2026).

Job Duties:
Teaching, research, and service to the institution.  All McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Candidates should have completed their PhD or be near completion. An applicant’s record of performance must provide evidence of outstanding research potential and the ability/potential to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as evidence (or intentions) of undergraduate and graduate supervision and of mentoring students with diverse lived experiences.

McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing. However, knowledge of French is an asset.
