The Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is offering a full time position in the Division of Medical Genetics for a Board Certified-Board Eligible Clinical Geneticist. As part of a growing Department and Division, there is a unique opportunity to practice genomic medicine in a multicultural patient population. You will become part of a collegial faculty who are dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and teaching a variety of learners including medical students, residents and fellows. Our program provides state of the art diagnostic genetic testing for our patients.
The successful applicant will be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Clinical Genetics and General Pediatrics. It is anticipated that the candidate will have experience in the treatment of children with inborn errors of metabolism. Clinical and/or Biochemical Genetics board eligibility and/or certification is desirable. The candidate should also have experience in management of abnormal newborn screening results related to metabolic disorders. The faculty member will work with an established team of physicians, genetics counselors and advanced nurse practitioner within the Division to provide clinical patient care. Our service uses a combination of in-person and telemedicine visits to better serve the needs of our patient population.
The prospective faculty member will perform inpatient and outpatient consultations at the Bristol Myer –Squibb Children’s Hospital and Child Health Institute University of New Jersey which are both part of the St. Barnabas Health Care system. There are opportunities to collaborate with clinicians in all pediatric subspecialties in addition to clinicians who care for patients with craniofacial disorders, disorders of sexual differentiation, vascular malformations and adult neurology patients.
The candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching of medical students, pediatric residents and fellows through didactic and bedside teaching. Opportunities for teaching genetic counseling students are available in the Rutgers University Program in Genetic Counseling. Applicants must be Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). If the candidate is Board Certified during or following 1993, he/she must be enrolled in Maintenance of Certification by the ABMGG.
There are numerous opportunities for the candidate to develop a funded clinical research program in his/her area of interest. Research opportunities are available through the Children’s Clinical Research Center, Child Health Institute of New Jersey and Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
