Assistant Professor - Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences **FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT** The Department of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Sciences at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of departmental courses, including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Quantitative Chemistry, and Chemistry of Everyday Life. Depending on departmental needs, teaching responsibilities may also include Environmental Science. Candidates should be proficient in delivering instruction both in person and through CUNY-approved distance learning formats. Experience incorporating experiential learning activities-both virtual and in-person is also required. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to contribute to curriculum and program development, participate in department, college, and university committees, advise and mentor students, and engage in research and professional development to support their growth within the department. Teaching assignments may include evening, weekend, and distance learning courses as needed. CUNY currently requires employees to work onsite at least 70% of the time (e.g., 7 out of every 10 workdays). Flexible or compressed work schedules may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance of their assigned campus or office. **QUALIFICATIONS** A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely related field, along with three years of college-level teaching in Chemistry and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. A preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, experience teaching urban students, demonstrated achievements in research and scholarship, and a history of conducting high-impact scientific research adopting interdisciplinary approaches. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
