Assistant Professor - Computer Information Systems-2 Positions **FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT** Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-five colleges within the dynamic City University of New York (CUNY) System. Medgar Evers College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computer Information Systems (CIS). This role involves teaching undergraduate courses, conducting research, mentoring students, and participating in curriculum development within the Department of Computer Information Systems, School of Business. The successful candidate will bring expertise in one or more of the following areas: cybersecurity, database management, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, cloud computing, and business information systems. This position is effective for the Fall 2025 semester. Key Responsibilities: -Teach undergraduate courses in Computer Information Systems, including but not limited to: Database Systems, Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Cloud Computing, Systems Analysis & Design, Software Development & Programming, Business Information Systems -Develop and update course materials to reflect current industry trends and emerging technologies. -Engage in scholarly research and contribute to academic publications and conferences. -Supervise and mentor undergraduate students, including advising on capstone projects and internships. -Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work, curriculum development, and academic mentoring. -Foster industry partnerships and help develop experiential learning opportunities for students. -Collaborate with faculty to enhance interdisciplinary teaching and research initiatives. **QUALIFICATIONS** For Assistant Professor: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science with proven research and teaching experience in any of the following areas: data science, cybersecurity, block chain, programming, networking, computer graphics, and digital media. Preferred Qualifications: -A Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABO candidates near completion will be considered. -Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. -A record of or potential for scholarly research and publications. -Expertise in one or more of the following: cybersecurity, AI, cloud computing, business intelligence, database management, or enterprise systems. -Strong commitment to student success, diversity, equity, and inclusion -Industry certifications such as CISSP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, CompTIA Security+, or PMP. -Experience teaching online or hybrid courses using Brightspace, or other LMS platforms. -Prior experience in curriculum development and program assessment. -Demonstrated ability to secure research grants or industry funding **COMPENSATION** Assistant Professor: $75,465 - $86,645 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs.
