Assistant Professor - Full-Time
The Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a 12-month appointment stream Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for teaching Clinical Mental Health Counseling related course content, mentoring students in the graduate program, and serving as the clinical field placement coordinator. In addition, the incumbent will participate in department, school, and university governance and service, along with other roles as determined by the Department Chair and Program Director. Position Duties
· Teaching responsibilities within the program will include serving as the instructor of record for clinical mental health counseling courses, providing clinical supervision, and advising/mentorship (55% effort).
· Serve as the clinical field placement coordinator for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program (40% effort) with the goal of providing students with unparalleled clinical education (practicum and internship) experiences in accordance with accreditation standards. Specific duties include: coordinating and tracking practicum and internship placements and student progress, overseeing day-to-day operations of the clinical placements, ensuring that field placements are appropriate to the educational mission and meet accreditation standards, engaging in ongoing site development in response to evolving trends in the field and student feedback, working with the Program Director to offer site supervisor development activities, responding to inquiries regarding practicum and internship, assisting the Program Director with policies and procedures pertaining to clinical placements, and overseeing the implementation of student remediation plans when they relate to performance on clinical placements.
· General faculty duties will include engagement in program and departmental meetings, committee service, recruitment and evaluation of prospective students, and participation in clinical capstone examinations (5%)
· Opportunities to participate in or develop a program of research/scholarship will be evaluated in collaboration with the Program Director and Department Chair.

Requisite Qualifications
Minimum Educational Requirements
The faculty member must have a doctoral degree from a counselor education program, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. ABD candidates will be considered if they are within 12 months of obtaining their degree. Alternatively, they may have a doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., Counseling Psychology, AND to have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least a full academic year BEFORE July 1, 2013. Preference will be given to individuals who hold a license or are license-eligible to practice professional counseling in Pennsylvania and who are NCC/CRC Certified/Eligible.
Academic Experience
· Primary preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated experience in teaching within a counselor education program, clinical supervision, advising and/or mentorship of counseling graduate students, and/or clinical administration.
· Additional preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated experience in or potential in the areas of community engagement, delivery of counseling services to medically underserved populations, and engaging in research or scholarship in areas relevant to the counseling profession.
The start date for this position will be Fall 2025. The position will be a 12-month appointment, appointment steam within the Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health.
