GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job supports and develops the department's research program in conjunction with laboratory principal investigator. May also support certain aspects of resident and fellow education, especially that relate to research. Develop and maintain their own research activities, including publishing and presenting aspects of their research in peer reviewed journals and national meetings in addition to mentoring other junior researchers in their institute. Pursuit of external funding for their own research and that of others in their institute is a key aspect of the position, as the external support enhances the prestige of the institute and enables the expansion of the institute's research program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop and execute translational research in accordance with the specific laboratory’s focus and in alignment with the laboratory PI’s interests and the institute's agenda.Write and submit funding proposals to federal and non-federal sources including industry sponsors whose research interests fit with the PI’s research program and institute research agenda.Contribute to authoring publishable scientific research papers, presentations, and research proposals and present institute's research findings at levels ranging from internal meetings to national scientific meetings.Support the research education of residents, fellows, junior laboratory personnel, and interns in the institute as necessary.Other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum  

PhD or MD (or MD/PhD) in a related scientific field.4 years’ experience with scientific research

Preferred

History of scientific publications
