Summary of Job Duties:The College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks to hire a board-certified genetic counselor to join our academic faculty. This is a 12-month, full-time faculty position located in Little Rock, Arkansas. This position includes administrative responsibilities as an assistant program director and faculty responsibilities to include didactic and/or fieldwork training of students, student mentorship/advising, and the development of one’s academic career in the areas of service, scholarship, and education. Academic rank, tenure track, and salary are commensurate with qualifications and college promotion and tenure criteria. A generous benefits package includes life, health, dental, vision and disability insurance as well as employer matching (up to 10%) retirement plan.
Qualifications:Master’s degree from an accredited Genetic counseling programProfessional board certification in respective field, as applicableMinimum of three years of full-time experience in the field of genetic counseling

Preferred

Experience in teaching genetic counseling studentsExperience with clinical supervision of genetic counseling studentsPrevious leadership experience

Responsibilities:

Assistant Program Director – Principal Responsibilities

Assisting in the planning, developing, and monitoring of those aspects of the curriculum that support students’ integration of knowledge, skills, experience, and professional ethics into the practice of genetic counseling;Serving as the primary point of contact when the program director is temporarily unavailable;Assisting with maintaining program compliance with accreditation standards;Providing logistical support for teaching faculty; andOther duties as assigned by the program director.

Faculty Member – Principal Responsibilities

Designing and teaching didactic courses in area(s) of content expertiseMentoring students with thesis projectsContributing to program and curriculum assessment and planning activities.Participating in university, community, and professional serviceMaintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity to be a role-model for genetic counseling studentsOther duties as assigned
