The University of South Carolina seeks exceptionally qualified applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor appointment (9-month) in Science Education to begin Fall 2025. Responsibilities of the successful candidate include: (a) teaching both undergraduate and graduate education, and science education courses; (b) engaging in teaching, curriculum development, and research in Middle Level education; © connecting and developing relationships with local schools; and (d) supporting the service needs of the Middle Level Education program, EdD in Educational Practice and Innovation with a concentration in STEM Education program, the department of Teacher Education, and the College of Education.
Advertised Salary Range: Salary is competitive commensurate with experience.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must have earned a PhD or EdD in Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, STEM Education, or a related field. Experience with online teaching/learning platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Zoom) with ability to incorporate innovative pedagogies around school- and community-based learning and professional development is required. Candidates must have excellent teaching skills, the ability to mentor teacher candidates and doctoral students; evidence of a continued record of professional development and scholarly productivity, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
Three years of experience working with pre-adolescents/adolescents in schools that serve students from underserved and underrepresented communities is required. Prior experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students and/or teacher education candidates, and a focus on minoritized science education is desired.
