The School of Accountancy in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in accounting, at the rank of an assistant professor. All areas of expertise in accounting will be considered. Salary and benefits are AACSB -competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities include publishing scholarly research in elite or high impact academic journals, teaching at both undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, and service. The successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the accounting concentration in the PhD program. The expected starting date is September 1, 2025. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship is AACSB -accredited at the graduate and undergraduate levels and offers a Ph.D. in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing. Minimum Qualifications + Ph.D. degree (Accounting Concentration). ABDs will be considered, but the doctoral degree is required no later than the proposed start date. + Record of elite or high impact scholarship as evidenced by a portfolio of high-quality published and/or ongoing research. + Evidence of teaching effectiveness in accounting courses at the college/university level. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Completion of a doctoral degree in accounting by the starting date is necessary along with strong evidence of potential publication success in top journals and quality instruction. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
