ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - MUSICOLOGY
Situated in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of NY, the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites innovative teacher-scholars for the position of Assistant Professor of musicology/ethnomusicology. This tenure-track position begins Fall 2025. Ithaca College’s inquiry-driven musicology curriculum centers case studies that explore music in its many contexts. Drawing on diverse cultural perspectives, the successful candidate will teach and develop courses in this curriculum and in their areas of specialization. The position entails teaching both music majors and the wider college community. In addition to being a creative and engaging pedagogue, the successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda. We seek a candidate who is dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students. We value applicants whose research and teaching will support Ithaca College’s commitments to antiracism and social justice. Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have completed a Ph.D. in musicology, ethnomusicology, or a related field at the time of appointment, and have at least one year of teaching experience beyond the graduate-assistant level. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for working collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students. Hiring Range: $61,000 - $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
