JOB SUMMARY
The physician will: provide care to patients of the Palliative Medicine practice in the ambulatory and inpatient settings; participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, interns, residents, and fellows; participate in departmental meetings and committee meetings; and other scholarly activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Excellent and supportive team environment Ability to work within a multifaceted palliative program, working with interdisciplinary teams, including, bioethics, hospitalists, critical care and CCU teams, hospice Excellence teaching palliative medicine to health science students, post graduate trainees Opportunities to work with underserved patients including patients who are in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice population at Hospital Galveston. Ability to work with trauma and burns patients. Ability to work within an interprofessional team that includes advance practice providers, social workers and pastoral care providers Commitment to academic growth and programmatic development in a growing program that is embedded in the UTMB system. Expertise in pain and symptom management in patients with serious medical illness and serious illness conversations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Board certification in primary specialty, Board certification or Board eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Palliative Medicine Fellowship training or other comparable experience
SALARY
Commensurate with experience.
