Teaching assignments will include Ceramics, 3D Design, Art Education for Elementary/Secondary, Sculpture, Introduction to Visual Art, and may include Art History. This is an on-campus position, though some courses may need to be delivered online. Part of this position’s load could include mentoring high school teachers in SMSU’s concurrent enrollment program as needed. In addition to assigned loads, duties of this position involve studio management and advising: • Studios: Manage the Sculpture and Ceramics studio facilities including ordering course materials, managing fee accounts, and following proper safety and security procedures required for the management of the kilns, glazes, additional chemicals, and equipment. • Advising: This person will advise all 3-D majors in the BA in Art (studio emphasis) and the BS in Art Education advisees. **Minimum Qualifications** + A minimum of a master's degree in Studio Art or Art Education or closely related field with enrollment in an arts-related MFA or an arts-related doctoral program. MFA or Doctoral program must be successfully completed within 5 years to meet the requirement for tenure. + At least three years' experience teaching Art in both post-secondary and K-12 education. + Evidence of scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in the specified discipline(s), or related disciplines. + Demonstrated interest in faculty position that prioritizes teaching and emphasizes teaching excellence. + Effective communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups. + Experience managing Ceramics and/or Sculpture facilities. + Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with students and colleagues who are culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse. + Evidence of arts-related technical, computer, and software skills and of facility with online teaching. **Preferred Qualification** + Preference given to candidates who have a terminal degree in an Art-related discipline. + Demonstrated effectiveness teaching at a post-secondary level. At least five years’ experience teaching courses in 3D Studio, Art Education, and Intro to Visual Art. + Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondary institution and in K-12. + Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning at a post-secondary institution and in K-12. + Professional development and/or expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universal design. + Experience running and supervising kilns, metal casting, welding, and other ceramic- and sculpture-related equipment. **Other Requirements** Priority will be given to those who apply by January 28th, 2025.
