Assistant Professor of Chemistry-Lyon College seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry with a
background in Biochemistry to begin January 2025 or August 2025. Lyon College is a dynamic, growing institution focused on cultivating the curious mind and mentoring students to explore widely and think deeply about the world and their role in it.
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in chemistry. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is highly preferred, and a commitment to liberal arts education is required.
Lyon College is committed to providing excellent teaching and creating an inclusive environment that promotes its student's and faculty's persistence and success. Teaching responsibilities include teaching biochemistry, general and introductory chemistry courses with labs, and
advanced courses in areas related to the candidate’s specialties. The teaching load 21 load hours per year (each lab section counts as 2 load hours).
Lyon supports a robust culture of undergraduate research in addition to teaching. Evidence of a scholarly agenda appropriate to Lyon College that could involve undergraduates will be expected. Other duties include serving on college committees, advising students majoring in
chemistry, participating in recruiting, curricular development, and assessment.
