Recruitment/Posting Title Assistant Professor of Composition (Commercial Music) Department MGSA - Music Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary The Department of Music at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition (Commercial Music). We seek a creative, dynamic composer with significant professional experience in media scoring (e.g., film, television, online media, video games) and or/ popular songwriting.Responsibilities● Engage in creative and professional activities, including building industry partnerships, producing new work for commercial applications, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the school and university.● Teach courses and lessons in music composition, specifically focusing on songwriting and/or scoring for film, television, video games, and online media platforms.● Assess current curriculum offerings and develop a new commercial music program.● Serve as the administrative leader of the commercial music program, which will include reviewing and revising curricula in media scoring and music production.● Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.● Engage in service activities within the Department of Music, the university, and the music composition community at large.● Participate in committees, student advising, and other departmental responsibilities.
