The Criminal Justice, Law and Behavioral Sciences (CJLBS) Program at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice, Law, and Behavioral Science, to begin Fall 2025, or as arranged with the successful candidate. Russell Sage College values in person instruction at the undergraduate level. Review of applications will begin immediately.
The CJLBS program is part of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies which houses five additional undergraduate (forensic psychology; sociology; public health; English, writing, and culture; history) and two graduate (forensic mental health; criminal justice and community corrections) programs. Our programs incorporate multiple perspectives and fields to provide students with an interdisciplinary perspective of the practice of human behavior and culture.
The successful candidate for this tenure-track position should have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a related field at the time of appointment. The candidate will be expected to teach the introductory course in criminal justice and function, Criminology, Policing, Corrections, Juvenile Delinquency, and courses related to the candidate's specialty.
Teaching assignments will be primarily in the department's undergraduate programs but may also include the opportunity to teach general education courses and graduate courses in Master's programs. Russell Sage College employs Boyer's model of scholarship to balance roles of faculty in the tenure and promotion process. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue their scholarship, advise students, and develop collaborative relationships with members of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department and other departments on campus.
The estimated base academic year salary range for this position is $52,000- $55,000, commensurate with experience.
Job Requirements:
A PhD in Criminal Justice or a related field, and a demonstrated interdisciplinary perspective on human behavior is required. Teaching experience is strongly desired; candidates must possess a commitment to teaching and advising excellence, scholarship, and service. Experience working with a diverse student body is a must.
