Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Educational Leadership (EDLR) in the College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Educational Technology Leadership. We seek a colleague with a track record of research grounded in equity and social justice as related to educational technology leadership. We are especially interested in a colleague whose scholarship is grounded in theory-based empirical research on the development and application of digital technology, a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), ethics and social responsibility, and leadership with technology in traditional or nontraditional settings. An ideal candidate should be able to teach aspiring leaders about equity-oriented leadership for organizational change and academic and behavioral strategies that support students intellectually, socially, and emotionally. As such, the candidate will bring asset-based thinking to educational/instructional technologies. We seek an expert in navigating federal and state laws and industry trends in educational technologies, and curriculum development aligned with standards from the International Society for Technology in Education. The candidate will also provide service and leadership at the university and the local, state, national, and international levels. Montclair State University is poised to be the tri-state destination for administrators looking to expand their foundation in educational leadership. In sum, we seek a scholar who will help position our Educational Leadership Program and Montclair State University as a national leader in educational technology leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED: 

Doctorate in educational leadership or closely related field with a concentration in educational technology (the doctorate must be completed by June 30, 2025)

A well-defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly activities appropriate to career stage

Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice work, in general and/or as applied to educational technologies (e.g., training or direct experience in equity and justice work; willingness to reflect on oneself and systems of power; research, teaching, or service focused on issues like promoting asset-based thinking)

PREFERRED:

Experience teaching educational technologies and educational leadership courses at the graduate level in-person and/or online

Leadership experience in a role relevant to P–12 educational technology education

Experience working with community-based organizations, state agencies, or schools

Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities

Experience advising graduate students

Evidence of potential or successful external research funding
