This is a 9-month, tenure track position that reports to the Head of the Department of English, Philosophy, and Modern Languages. WTAMU is seeking an innovative and dynamic educator and creative writer to enhance a recognized teaching, writing, and creative writing minor. The WTAMU EPML department is an interdisciplinary department that collaborates with other on-campus programs, such as the Center for the Study of the American West and the Mexican-American Studies program. Work Performed: + Teach a minimum of 9 hours per long semester in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and/or screenwriting including core curriculum writing using face-to-face and/or online formats. + Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. + Active participation in departmental, university, and community committees/activities. + Participate in departmental recruiting efforts to grow the English program. + Maintain an active research and publication practice. Necessary Qualifications: + Ph.D. in Creative Writing or English with a specialization in Creative Writing. + Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. + Commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach to education and research. + Leadership skills, effective interpersonal communication, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a student-centered environment are essential qualities expected. Preferred Qualifications: + Preferred subfields considered include 18th century transatlantic literature, 18th century British literature, composition and rhetoric, foreign language.
