Location: Bowling Green, KY Category: Faculty Posted On: Tue Oct 15 2024 Job Description: The Department of Music at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a collaborative artist-teacher in Horn Performance, with a secondary area in Music Theory, for a nine-month, tenure-eligible faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will: + Teach applied horn to undergraduate and graduate students + Recruit and retain a dynamic horn studio + Teach undergraduate courses in music theory and/or ear-training + Maintain an active national and international artist research/performance profile + Perform with the WKU Faculty Brass Quintet + Provide appropriate service to the department, institution, and profession + Demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds, and contribute fully to the artistic and intellectual life of the WKU Department of Music + Teach other academic courses as defined by department needs and candidate's strengths Job Requirements: + Doctorate in Horn Performance (ABD considered with degree completion by August 12, 2025) + Degree, cognate, or significant graduate-level coursework in music theory + Relevant college-level teaching experience + Significant performance experience at the regional and/or national level Additional Information: Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.
