The Institute of Parasitology (IoP) at McGill University (http://www.mcgill.ca/parasitology/) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in One Health, focusing on host-parasite interactions, including zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, and their implications for global health challenges. We seek an innovative and driven researcher with a Ph.D. or equivalent to join our multidisciplinary team, advancing McGill’s Strategic Research Priorities by addressing parasitic diseases at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health. The position start date is August 1, 2025.

Position Description:

The successful candidate will establish a high-impact, externally funded, laboratory-based research program investigating host-parasite dynamics within the One Health framework. The program will address critical health challenges by leveraging cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and RNA therapeutics, to drive discoveries in host-parasite interactions, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, and disease prevention strategies.

Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

Parasite-derived molecules as targets for drug, diagnostic, and vaccine development

Mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions at the molecular and cellular levels, with applications to zoonotic and vector-borne diseases.

The successful candidate will contribute to One Health-focused education and training by mentoring students and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. As part of McGill’s NSERC CREATE One Health Against Pathogens (OHAP) program, they will help prepare the next generation of scientists to address complex infectious disease challenges. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (www.mcgill.ca/macdonald), with responsibilities that may include developing and delivering courses such as:

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or equivalent in Parasitology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

Proven record of excellence in research on host-parasite interactions.

Demonstrated success in securing research funding and publishing impactful scholarly work.

Committed to interdisciplinary research, training, and teaching within a One Health framework.

Applicants with expertise in zoonotic protozoan or helminth infections, drug discovery, vaccine development, or AI-driven approaches to infectious diseases are particularly encouraged to apply.
