Position Summary:
The Department of Counselor Education at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a counselor educator to join our faculty on a tenure-track line at the assistant professor rank with an emphasis in School Counseling beginning in August 2025. The Department in Southeast Florida has eight faculty members and offers M.Ed. degrees in School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling (all CACREP-accredited). In addition, the Department offers Ed.S. degrees. Primary responsibilities will include active research and publication, grant writing, service, supervision, and teaching in a CACREP-accredited master’s program.

Essential Functions:
1. Teach Master’s level core courses in a CACREP-accredited counseling program, including a variety of formats
2. Advise and mentor degree-seeking students and serve on doctoral-level dissertation committees
3. Participate in all meetings and assigned committees related to the counseling department
4. Develop and maintain an active research line in school counseling and counselor education, including publications and presentations
5. Participate in service activities within the department, college, and university, as well as in professional counseling organizations
6. Work collaboratively and ethically with other faculty, staff, and students within the department, college, and university while promoting the mission and goals of the department and counseling profession

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 20252. Practical experience as a school counselor in Pre-K-12 schools
3. Currently holds or is eligible for a Florida Teacher Certification, School Counselor Certification or FL LMHC license
4. Eligible for membership in Chi Sigma Iota
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of CACREP, CAEP, and FL DOE accreditation standards
2. Experience using instructional technology to deliver online and hybrid courses
3. Understanding of competency-based training
4. Knowledge of the ASCA National Model and evidence-based school counseling programs
5. Evidence of active involvement with state, regional, or national counseling associations
6. Experience teaching graduate-level school counseling courses and core general counseling coursework
7. Effective oral and written communication, and technology skills
8. Evidence for scholarly inquiry, grant procurement, and publication in ACA journals
