Starting Salary: $72,203.00.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor – School Counseling, under the general direction of the Program Director, will facilitate learning, partake in scholarship, service, or any combination of those activities through the School Counseling program; they may also lead webinars, workshops, and orientations, and provide educational planning services for current candidates and alumni.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Doctoral or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited college or university. Professional experience and research expertise in school counseling and supervision in school settings.

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of PK-12 school counselor experience (preferred):

•              Experience with data driven decision making.

•              Evidence of leadership in school counseling.

•              Demonstrated currently in the school counseling related professional literature.

•              Active membership in professional school counseling organizations.

•              Knowledge of the ASCA National Model, role statements, ethical standards, and related content.

•              Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning and university teaching.

•              Interest in collaborating both within and outside the university in the development and delivery of instruction regulating in improved student learning, especially virtual/synchronous learning.

•              Ability to incorporate elements of experiential learning to foster engagement and excitement among students.

Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Valid Pupil Personnel School Counselor Credential (or a reciprocal credential from another State).

Service:

All faculty engage in service to the University, Community and Profession commensurate with academic rank.  Examples in each category include:

Service to the University:

•              Hiring and evaluating faculty participating in developing, revising, and coordinating curriculum as well as maintaining program vitality.

•              Participating in processes to improve academic program quality.

•              Participating in processes to improve quality of School, campus, and University and faculty experience, participating in faculty governance.

Service to the Community:

•              Contributions at the local, state and national levels involving one’s professional expertise to the public, to organizations and to government entities.

Service to the Profession:

•              Participation in and leadership of professional organizations.

 

Duties Required of All Faculty:

Certain duties are additionally required of all faculty and are not given formal workload credit but will be included in yearly evaluations.  These include but are not limited to:

•              Active participation in campus life to sustain a high level of facilitated learning.

•              Participation in program governance, including program-based committees, with the exception of SERC which may receive up to three (3) unites of service workload credit at the discretion of the Program Director and the approval of the Dean and the Provost.

•              Active participation in program and campus activities (including scheduled and impromptu meetings of faculty, staff and candidates).

•              Picking up and promptly responding to paper, voice and electronic mail and messages.

•              Visibility and accessibility support a sense of community.

•              Regular accessibility either by person, by telephone and/or virtually to candidates, colleagues and the greater University community.

•              Post of teaching schedules, office hours, and procedures for making appointments on the faculty member, online and on syllabi.

•              Attendance and participation in program, department, faculty, and Faculty Assembly meetings.

•              Responding in a timely fashion to candidates’ requests for meetings, to telephone calls and to email communications.

•              Participating in Faculty Assembly and program faculty meetings.

•              Participation in hiring faculty.

•              Participation in developing, revising, and coordinating curriculum and maintain program.

•              Participation in processes to improve quality of school/college, campus, and University faculty experience.

•              Participation in, selection, admission and retention of new candidates including attendance at admissions open houses, participating in admission interviews, new candidate orientation and advising of candidates.

•              Submittal of grades, attendance, syllabi, and textbook orders in compliance with University’s established procedures and deadlines.
