Job Summary

Serve in an assistant capacity to the Program Manager. Serve in an acting capacity in the absence of the Program Manager.  Assist in the development and implementation of services, supports, and programming of persons served.  Provide support to staff to ensure active engagement and a healthy and safe environment.

Primary Duties

Perform the duties of the Program Manager in their absence.  Ensure the daily operations are fulfilled and running smoothly.  Maintain communication with pertinent management and staff regarding issues and concerns relating to the site.

Assist the Program Manager in providing support to the individuals served according to their desires and choices and to staff as needed. Maintain familiarity and ensure ongoing compliance with organizational polices, and other regulatory bodies (Medicaid, Licensing, CARF, etc.) as it pertains to individual’s records, plans and documentation.

Assist with development, completion, and review of all participant evaluations, assessments, person-centered plans, progress reports, daily notes, data collection, and other supporting documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Provide support/training to staff, as needed, to ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation and to maintain proper ratios.

Encourage and provide active engagement in all community-based and program location based daily group and individual activities including but not limited to: community integration, personal care, mobility, behavior intervention, medication, training, communication, coordination of schedules, and supervision of participant’s activities.

Promote a safe, clean, and orderly environment and report unsafe conditions immediately.  Demonstrate proper behavior support techniques, following written protocols and procedures. Immediately apprise the Program Manager, Nurse, etc. of any medical concerns, APS allegations and injuries.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

Establish/maintain communication with family members, authorized representatives, guardians, residential providers, support coordinators, regarding participants’ progress, schedule, community activities, illness, incidents, etc.

Model and assist staff in providing active engagement in all daily group and individual activities.

Encourage and support staff to maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures, State and Federal regulations as applicable.

Participate in department meetings, participant meetings as assigned, and staff meetings.

Complete in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance to standard operating procedures all assigned documentation, attendance rosters, etc.

Perform quality assurance of data, quarterly reports, etc. to ensure accuracy and compliance.  Train/support staff as needed to ensure accuracy.

Maintain up-to-date program participant information.

Remain current with annual trainings as per company and regulatory standards.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

Required: high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

Three to five years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required

Supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities; physical ability to assist individuals with toileting, mobility, transferring, etc.

Knowledge of behavior support principles and practices.

Ability to use good judgment and decision-making skills.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.

Ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization.

Well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.

Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
