Assistant Project Commercial Manager

Role description:

Reporting to the project Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager, efficiently administer with minimal supervision, the Direct Fit-out Contractor’s package contract works under your control.

Role accountabilities:

Contract Documentation

• Review of the contract documentation and preparation of a Contract Review Report highlighting all deadlines for both Employer and Contractor deliverables, the contractual implications of default and the remedies provided therein.
• Assist Project Management Team in the preparation of project management instructions providing advice and recommended actions relative to compliance with the Contract.
• Assist Quantity Surveyor in the preparation of supplemental agreements, providing advice on clause insertions that reduce risk of claims against Employer.

Contract Correspondence

• Liaise with other members of the project management team to obtain all information necessary to enable accurate response to Contractor’s correspondence and claims.
• Compose suitable responses to contractor’s correspondence in accord with the contract documentation and within the timeframes stipulated therein. 
• Maintain contractor’s claims log.

Monthly Reporting

• Preparation of bi-weekly / monthly reports on contractual status of package contract under your control reference to claims received, under evaluation, settled etc., highlighting all issues that require input from Employer and/or others outside the project management team. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Form of Contract

• Working knowledge of various forms of construction contracts and the importance of accurately responding to contractual communications in timely fashion. 
• Previous experience of the “Form of Contract for Use in The Philippines” would be an advantage.

Quantity Surveying

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, particularly in the following areas:
o Tendering process and formulation of Contracts. 
o Variation and Final Account negotiation
o Build-up of rates from first principles
• Previous experience as a “Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor” would be an advantage.

Communication

• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary project management team and offer sound advice on all matters related to the Contract.
• Proficient in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
• Aptitude for clear English communication verbally and in writing. 
• Previous experience in the use of an electronic web-based document systems such as Aconex would be an advantage.
