The UCLA Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (DAPM), in tandem with the Division of Molecular Medicine (DMM), is inviting applications for an Assistant Project Scientist to become part of a growing team performing research on sex differences in pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension disproportionally affects more females as compared to males. The project involves research on the roles of sex chromosomes and sex hormones driving the pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension. The project will be focused on unraveling the mechanisms behind dysfunction of the pulmonary vessels and right ventricular heart failure in pulmonary hypertension by using bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and cutting-edge animal models of heart and lung disease. The project has a strong multidisciplinary character with multiple (inter)national collaborations.

The role of the future Assistant Project Scientist will include but are not limited to

Applicant will be performing experiments and initial data analysis Applicant will advise investigators regarding the most current and appropriate research methods for testing research hypotheses.
