ASSISTANT RACING SECRETARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Racing Secretary is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Racing Office. In addition, the incumbent may be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Racing Office, horsemen and racing department employees in the absence of the Racing Director.  Other responsibilities include:

 Assist in the processing stable applications and allotting stalls for trainers Take entries for races and proofing the eligibility of horses entered into races prior to the drawing of races. Coordinate early closing stakes nominations; take nominations for stakes and post them at closing Paddock Judge on live race days  Assure a safe, fair and efficient workplace environment for all employees

All other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS

A High School Diploma & College experience required. At least 3-5 years experience in racetrack industry at a management  level. Excellent verbal, mathematics, interpersonal, communication and writing skills. Ability to troubleshoot problems, offer recommendations, decision making, ability to make quick accurate decisions independently.  Extensive knowledge in equine, types of racing & all racing industry requirements. Must be at least 21 years of age or older and be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission License.
