Status: Non-exempt/Temporary (November – December)
Hours Per Week: Up to 40
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, the schedule will vary.
Scope & Purpose of Position: Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating bell ringers for the Annual Kettle Campaign. Monitor the work of employee and volunteer bell ringers, ensuring ample staff to meet location needs. Prepare and maintain records, reports, and equipment. Builds relationships with community leaders and manages kettle site locations.
Responsibilities Assist with contacting local store managers to secure approval for a kettle stand.Assist with coordinating and overseeing the activities of Kettle Campaign volunteers.Assist with inventory and prepare kettle equipment by ensuring all equipment is retrieved from storage, cleaned, and repaired as necessary.Assist with maintaining an appropriate filing system for all kettle information.Assist with preparing kettle schedules daily and assigning workers in such a manner as to maximize net income.Assist with training and supervising all bell ringers and drivers and holding employees accountable as required.Coordinate transportation/drivers as required.Ensure secure delivery and pick-up of kettles to and from sites.Ensure that all kettle employees and volunteers know the location, days, times, dress code standards, and other pertinent information.Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.Handle all problems with assigned locations.Monitor bell ringers by making unannounced visits to kettle sites.Retrieve all equipment and supplies from various kettle locations post-campaign and help prepare an inventory.Serve as a bellringer at open location(s), as needed.Serve as a positive and professional representative of The Salvation Army.Track fuel levels for all van usage. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with kettle fundraising programs preferred. Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment while demonstrating a positive attitude. Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.Great attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.Must be able to read, write, and communicate well in English. Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful.Must complete the KeepSAfe training and other required training upon hire.Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a 12-passenger cargo/transport van.Must maintain a professional appearance.Self-motivated and dependable.Strong organization and communication skills are required.Will understand, respect, and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
