Assistant Region Counsel

**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Assist in coordinating approximately 20-30 different law firms managing and handling the defense of approximately 80,000 pending asbestos cases.
+ Collaborate with insurer claims handlers and insurer attorneys in managing the defense of insured litigation matters.
+ Manage outside law firms defending the Company in uninsured litigation matters, including retention, separation, and invoicing.
+ Gather documentation and information in response to litigation discovery requests and subpoenas.
+ Provide timely advice and counsel to internal clients on various legal topics with a focus on litigation management.
+ Research and analyze legal issues, writing summaries and memos for senior Legal Department attorneys and the Company’s General Counsel.
+ Coordinate with the Legal Department’s Legal Operations team to ensure timely processing of new legal matters and updates to the Company’s asbestos claims management system.
**What Are We Looking For:**
+ Minimum of 2 years of legal experience, specializing in litigation defense and general legal advice
+ Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution, admitted to the bar in good standing in at least one U.S. state
+ Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal topics succinctly to management.
+ Adaptable and quick to understand the legal significance of new and unfamiliar issues
+ Proficient in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
