The Role of the Assistant Restaurant Manager
The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and directing the work of employees in the hotel's all-day or fine dining restaurant to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction. This role involves responding to a wide variety of guest requests, accurately assessing their needs, and providing personalized recommendations and touches to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Assistant Restaurant Manager ensures compliance with all Four Seasons' policies and standards.
Key Functions
Select train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees, supervisors and assistant managers in the Hotel’s All Day or Fine Dining Restaurant to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met long-range strategic planning for outlet operation.
The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide expert knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The ability to work closely with the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to design an effective menu and wine list while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price and attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control.
Observe physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
Education: Applicants should have two to five years of experience in diverse operations management positions.
Experience: A college degree, preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or business administration, is required. Equivalent experience in these fields is also acceptable.
Skills & Abilities:
Hospitality Management: Comprehensive understanding of hospitality management principles, including guest service, front office operations, housekeeping, reservations, and concierge services.
Restaurant Operations: Expertise in managing restaurant operations, including service standards, menu planning, and food and beverage coordination.
Business Acumen: Proficiency in business operations, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and financial reporting specific to the restaurant industry.
Technology: Proficiency in restaurant management software systems and other relevant technologies.
Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional growth.
Customer Service Excellence: Exceptional skills in managing guest experiences, handling complaints, and ensuring guest satisfaction within the restaurant context.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of effective interaction with guests, staff, and external stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying problems, analyzing potential solutions, and making decisive, effective decisions.
Organizational Skills: Aptitude for managing multiple tasks and priorities, scheduling, and ensuring smooth operations in the restaurant.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, ensuring all aspects of the restaurant's presentation and service meet or exceed hospitality standards.
Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing situations, guest needs, and industry trends, often with a proactive approach to innovation and improvement.
