Assistant Security Designer - Aviation & Federal (Kansas City)

Our Aviation Federal Global Practice has an exciting opportunity to join our growing low voltage systems team at Burns and McDonnell. Our low-voltage team specializes in electronic and physical security design, telecommunication distribution and special systems design.

At Burns McDonnell, we assist clients of all sizes and industries by providing extensive physical security services ranging from assessments to integrated security solutions and large security architecture designs. Services we typically provide include security and safety system design, threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments, security surveys, security master planning, compliance with federal security programs, independent validation and verification of integrated security system operations, management of installation and maintenance, and staff augmentation to develop and implement facility management and protection processes. Burns McDonnell is looking for talented individuals who will design electronic systems for the protection of people, information, facilities, and other critical assets for our clients.

Job Duties:

Assist in the design, planning, QA/QC, and assessment of access control systems, video surveillance systems, building intrusion detection security, and perimeter intrusion detection systems.Assist with setup of security BIM/CAD configuration and procedures according to project requirements at the beginning of a project for the design team.Assist in preparing security drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using BIM/CAD software programs.Assist with a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on nonroutine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.Assist in the evaluation, recommendation, and integration of electronic security technologies into various new and existing sites and facilities, and the implementation of plans for systems growth, operations, and personnel requirements.Assist in the development of complex information and decision-making systems that encompass diverse technologies including unified management software, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, telecommunication, wireless, sensors, door hardware, etc.Assist in the evaluation of client needs for new or modified security systems and products to determine feasibility, time frames and compatibility with current systems.Review policies, procedures, and regulations that may affect physical security expectations at client offices and project sites.All other duties as assigned.
