Job Description
The Michigan House of Representatives Sergeant-at-Arms Police Agency is currently accepting applications for Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms. This full-time law enforcement position consists primarily of dignitary protection for State Legislators, threat assessments and investigations. Predominant work schedule is Monday thru Friday, with weekends and State Holidays off. Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms work under the supervision of the Chief of Police, at the direction of the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be:
+ MCOLES certified or eligible for re-certification.
+ Minimum of four (4) years of law enforcement experience. Military experience may be considered towards this four years requirement.
+ Certified or able to be re-certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR and AED.
+ Possess an associate degree, with bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
+ Basic computer skills and investigative experience is preferred.
+ Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
