Assistant Single Sailor Program Coordinator
Summary This position is located in the Single Sailor (Liberty) Program, within the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) aboard Naval Station Mayport, FL. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating base-wide Liberty programs and activities that provide a variety of recreational events/trips that promote healthy/mission readiness lifestyle for active-duty single sailor between the core ages of 18-25 years of age. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in developing a comprehensive Single Sailor Program that includes scheduling, organizing, publicizing, directing and evaluating both recurring and non-recurring activities for a target population. Assists with the daily operation of the Liberty Center complete with internet computers, recreational equipment and a variety of diverse programs to meet the needs of the personnel stationed aboard NAVSTA Mayport. Responsible for continuously marketing and promoting the programs, trips and activities through innovative methods of out-reach which can include but is not limited to using the Bachelors Quarters, Galleys, MWR facilities and social media outlets. Collaborates with other departments/department managers within MWR to plan, promote, and implement social activities that provide well-rounded and versatile programs. Assists with annual budgeting by providing information to the department manager regarding program costs, supplies, and necessary personnel needed to support a strong and successful Single Sailor program. Creates, maintains and utilizes entertainment resources to book and assist with contracting entertainment for Single Sailor events. May assist with supervision of staff within the Single Sailor program in the absence of the Manager. Some overnight travel will be required for trips that may be taken out of the Jacksonville area. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, techniques and methods of procedure used in organizing, planning, administering and conducting leisure time activities that is suitable for the intended individual(s), and group(s). Must be able to read and interpret guidelines, instructions and policies established specifically for the Single Sailor Program. Ability and knowledge to properly market programs and motivate eligible patrons. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of military and civilian personnel to promote, explain, motivate, and advertise all programs and activities to ensure full participation.
