Assistant Softball Coach
Job Title Assistant Softball Coach Agency Texas A&M University - Texarkana Department University Athletics Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Texarkana, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Assistant Coach provides assistance to the head coach with all areas of team administration and management, including practice sessions, conditioning workouts, monitoring of student-athletes academic progress, and evaluation and recruiting of prospective student-athletes for the team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assist the head coach and other staff members with routine administrative responsibilities of the assigned sport program and management of the men/women’s team. + Coaches at the direction of the head coach provides instruction, demonstration and teaching the sport's dynamics to student-athletes to ensure maximum potential of individuals and the team as a whole. + Recruits and scouts prospective student-athletes from high school, junior and community colleges + Makes recommendations to the head coach regarding potential of student-athletes. + Stay current, understand, and adhere to all NAIA guidelines and maintain up-to-date rosters, and other information required by athletic department. Will report any violations of these established rules, which may arise, to the proper officials. + Assist head coach in coordinating team travel, arranging competitive schedule, organizing, and scheduling practice sessions, updating, and maintaining student-athlete recruiting databases, updating and maintaining files (both hard copy and video) of opponents. + Assist in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive public relations program. + Assist in managing the operations of sport camps and/or clinics. + Assist in managing all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NAIA, Red River Athletic Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures + Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality, and other areas. + This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + One (1) year previous high school, collegiate or higher-level coaching and playing experience. + General knowledge of NAIA and NCAA rules. + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Oral and written communication skills. + Physical Requirements – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Preferred Qualifications + Master’s Degree Other Requirements + Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours. + This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
