Assistant Store Manager
Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Job Description:

Essential Details and Responsibilities:

Support the execution of sales, service, and customer experience initiatives in store.Assist in driving results to achieve Sales, KPIs and Store Performance goals.Partner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events and develop mutually beneficial business relationships with various rescue agencies.Partner with the Store Manager to coordinate the recruitment and hiring of Animal Care Experts (ACEs).Support the day-to-day assignment of tasks while training and developing ACEs for future success within Pet Retail Brands.Assist the Store Manager with order placements, maintaining appropriate inventory, floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, housekeeping and miscellaneous paperwork.Support the completion of the store’s Health & Safety audits.Protect employees and customers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment.May be required to maintain cleanliness and well-being of all livestock including animal care and feeding.

Experience, Education, Certifications:

At least 3+ years in retail environmentWorking knowledge of POS systemDemonstrated interpersonal & sales skills

Assignments are received in objective focused terms. Receives guidance based on organizational goals and company policies.Ex. Required to use creative thought for tasks such as when supporting the planning and execution of store events, what products to suggest to help a sick pet.

Accomplishes results through a local team and with remote head office and warehouse staff. Required to build relationships with 3rd parties such as customers, local government, vendors, shelters, rescues, etc.Communication may be confrontational in nature with customers and employees

Effort Factor: Physical Demands

Several duties require physical exertion and dexterity. Fine dexterity for typing and handling of cash required on consistent basis. Heavy lifting up to 55lbs required several times throughout a shift. Able to seek relief intermittently throughout the shift.

Works in a relatively temperature-stable environment with little requirement for overtime. May sometimes work alone.
