Posting Details Position Information Job Title Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of Chemical, Biomolecular, and Materials Engineering Job Description Summary, Duties and Responsibilities, Required Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications The Department of Chemical, Biomolecular, and Materials Engineering at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor beginning in July 2025.
The department is located in the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering, which is equipped with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, and offers an ABET accredited B.S. program in chemical engineering with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 140 students and typical class sizes ranging from 20-40 students. Individuals with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, a passion for engineering education and student learning, and demonstrated teaching experience are encouraged to apply. Applications from professionals with industry experience in process control, design, management, and safety are also encouraged.
Basic Function:
The successful applicant will be expected to teach three to five three-credit chemical engineering undergraduate courses per semester and to contribute to ongoing assessment and evaluation of our undergraduate program. Final course assignment will be based on the interest and expertise of the individual and the needs of the department.

Qualifications
Required:
1. PhD in Chemical Engineering.
2. Minimum of one year of Postdoctoral fellowship experience.
3. Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
4. Research expertise and experience in materials engineering and polymers.
5. Experienced in teaching Fluid Mechanics, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, and Materials Science and Engineering.
6. Experienced in teaching Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering laboratories.
7. Demonstrated ability to teach small and large classes.
8. Demonstrated ability to teach chemical engineering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
9. Strong evidence of teaching effectiveness.
10. Strong evidence of student mentoring and advising.
11. Demonstrated experience in supervising undergraduate student projects.
12. Demonstrated experience in supervising graduate and/or undergraduate teaching assistants.
13. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, improvement, and/or ABET program assessment.
14. Strong evidence of service and community engagement.
15. Demonstrated proficiency in strong interpersonal skills.
16. Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
17. Demonstrated ability to work with various groups/populations of students, staff, and faculty.
18. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in teaching and instruction.
