Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach applied piano consisting of both music and non-music majors, keyboard skills/class piano, and collaborative performance. Part of the appointment may include teaching in a secondary area of need (ex: music technology, music theory, aural perception, music education). The appointment is for the fall semester with the possibility for renewal, non-tenure track. The appointment may also include other responsibilities that vary with the needs of the school. Teach an applied piano studio, consisting of both music and non-music majors. Teach keyboard skills/class piano courses. Teach collaborative performance. Other responsibilities that vary with the needs of the school.
Responsibilities that vary with the needs of the school may include: Collaborative performance with faculty. Advising, evaluating and assisting students. Curriculum and/or course development. Teaching in a secondary area of need (ex: music technology, music theory, aural perception, music education). Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Master’s degree in collaborative piano or performance. Piano and collaborative performance experience and/or graduate study on piano. Successful studio teaching experience. Successful keyboard skills/class piano or beginning piano experience. Experience or potential as a college-level music instructor. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Doctorate or ABD in collaborative piano or performance. Successful teaching experience in piano at the college level. Successful teaching experience in keyboard skills/class piano at the college level. Successful teaching in a secondary area at the college level. The Successful Candidate Will Be able to work closely with other faculty in a collegiate environment and contribute to the academic mission of the school. Work effectively with students from different backgrounds and levels of experience. The Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology is a synthesis of traditional musical training and application through new technologies. Students develop skills in areas including music composition and theory, recording, sound synthesis, sound design for film and theater, audio for film/video and multimedia, film scoring, notation and sequencing, orchestration, interdisciplinary collaboration, music business, and instrumental/vocal performance.
The Master of Music in Music Education is designed for currently licensed, practicing music teachers. This degree program can be completed 100% online, allowing students to earn an advanced music degree while continuing their teaching career. The MMME curriculum emphasizes practical applications of music and music education content in K-12 music classrooms. The College The College of Arts and Architecture is home to distinctive academic programs housed in the Schools of Art, Architecture, Music, and Film & Photography. Students enjoy close mentoring relationships with faculty through a curriculum that is rich in studio and lab-based pedagogy.
