Assistant Teaching Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, or Post-Doctoral Fellow in Law (Undergraduate)

Job Summary

The Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law invites applications for 1-2 non-tenure track/teaching faculty positions in the Undergraduate Law program which launched in 2021. The Kline School of Law Undergraduate program is one of just a handful of U.S. law school to offer a bachelor’s degree. We seek innovative, accomplished teachers committed to the success of our highly diverse and deeply engaged student body.

The program provides students with rigorous, multidisciplinary foundations in legal rules along with critical, experiential, and law & society-informed perspectives on the way law shapes individuals, society, government, technology, and industry. Building on Drexel’s nationally-known co-operative education program, Undergrad Law integrates experiential learning opportunities into academic courses: from visits to courthouses and law firms to introducing students to practical aspects of legal work such as client interviewing and trauma-informed practice.

In only the third year of the program, we have more than 115 students majoring in Law as well as another +50 minors from fields across the University. Of our majors, almost 75% identify as women, about 70% are students of color, and over one-third are first-generation college students. Well over one-third come from low-income families, identify as members of the LGBTQ community, and/or are recent immigrants.

We seek candidates who hold a PhD and/or JD or the equivalent who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and excitement about building an interdisciplinary, student-centered undergraduate program. Drexel and Kline Law are committed to recruiting, developing, retaining, and rewarding faculty members who bring scholarly interests and life experiences that reflect and support the diversity and success of our students, our University, and our communities. We are especially excited to hear from faculty who integrate current scholarship into their teaching and are eager to develop new courses that introduce students to the breadth of legal scholarship and careers.

This is a non-tenure track position; time spent in the position will not accrue toward tenure. The contract is initially for two years with the goal to reappoint if mutually satisfactory. While faculty are expected to be focused on teaching and service in the Undergraduate Law program, teaching faculty receive professional development funds which can be used for conference or research support, and participate fully in the intellectual and social life of the Law School.
