Assistant Team Leader - 3rd Shift

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Standard Duties as an Assistant Team Leader:

Support Team Leaders in day-to-day activity as needed.Assistant Team Leader will step in as Team Leader backfill when Team Leader is out of business (ex: call out, vacation, etc.).Complete and follow up on material process flow.Support with continuous improvement projects.Support with KPI metrics by ensuring team is following standard work.Assistant Team Leaders are expected to display the BorgWarner core beliefs in every aspect of their role.Develop effective relationships across all departments and teams.Facilitate communication between team, support groups and management.Expected to perform all the duties as outlined in the PC&L job description.Delegate daily duties to team members and support operator activities as necessary.Coordinate activities to ensure internal and external customer’s needs are met.Support with Monthly Safety training.Support with investigation and documentation for all safety incidents.SAP entries and transactions required as needed.Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.Wear all required PPE and follow safety protocols.Manually load, unload, and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required (see physical requirements).Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.Flexibility to work overtime to meet business demands.Perform other duties as assigned.

Emphasis within Line Lead:

Oversee the material flow process to meet orders and deadlines within production.Support PC&L team and oversee the material handling process from start to finish.Ensure that production teams meet their deadlines and fulfill all the necessary orders on time based off material availability.Support the PC&L team by completing the following:Oversee up to 2 lines/production areas.Consistently walk to ensure lines are filled and orders are placed in a timely manner by the PC&L team.Partner with the PC&L team to provide support and guidance (especially around new hires).Ensure PC&L team is following work instructions and standard processes.Work Instructions and JSA’s are completed within 30 days of hire and provided to the Team Leaders/Area Leaders.Ensure changeovers are completed on time with validation that the correct material is on the production line/cell.Ensure downtime is removed/limited due to support and guidance with leadership visibility.Support team regarding cross training and job rotation to allow for an ergonomic balance.Establish relationships with Production Team Leaders to support with customer demand and expectations around the right part, right place, at the right time.Support with performance investigations to determine root cause analysis.Establish SAP knowledge around material investigations (out of stock, inventory discrepancies, etc.).Ensure that company and safety policies are being followed and executed by the team.PPE, small box and bulk cutting practices, no cell phone usage on production floor, ergonomic safety, taking appropriate allocated breaks, etc.

Standard Duties as a Production Logistics & Controls (PC&L) Associate:

The PC&L Associate is responsible for loading and unloading materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and trailers. The operator is responsible for following the job responsibilities within the plant and/or warehouse while operating in a fast-paced environment:

Load product, unload product, receive product, ship product, move materials at elevated heights, and issue material using system transactions.PC&L Associate will be expected to safely perform all tasks assigned by Leadership including all positions within the physical Logistics department. Safely operate all equipment to which the individual is certified (ex):Sit-down ForkliftsStand Up Lifts (Both Reach and Pacer)TuggersElectric JacksRead and understand work instructions and/or follow oral instructions to execute the material flow requirements.Manually load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required (see physical requirements).Accurately and timely enter materials transactional information into SAP and other systems as required.Read electronic and manual bill of materials, pull sheets, pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials for operations.Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.Use appropriate deviation areas, hold tags, to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.Load/Unload materials into trailers adhering to Dock Safety Protocol.Meet physical logistics KPI’s, Associate Engagement and Teamwork.Adhere to FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points.Wear all required PPE and follow box cutting safety protocols.

Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:

Stand for long periods of time including during operation of stand-up lifts.Lift shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.Step up and down off lift; walk long distances over extended periods.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.

Education & Experience

Education: 
High School diploma/GED required, or basic skills assessment required

Experience: 

SAP/ERP systems, Operation of PIT and Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment1 year of physical logistics related experience preferred.Knowledge of Dock A and Supermarket Processes preferred.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP inventory software, excel spreadsheet software and word processing software.
